Beechwood in the Community

Being caring and kind is very much part of what we are about here at Beechwood Dental. So it’s important to us that we extend that outside the clinic with our own patients and into the wider community. We continually seek out ways to truly be part of the community by taking part in fundraisers, sponsoring events and providing education & knowledge. Here are just some of the things we are proud to have been involved in:

Dr. David Casey Tribute

Community Family 10k Cycle Day

In aid of the Peter McVerry Trust, Beechwood Dental was proud to be a sponsor and organizer of this locally organized family event. On a sunny September day in 2012, over 300 kids and their families took part in a 10k cycle along the Royal Canal in Dublin. A total of €10,000 was raised from this event for the Peter McVerry Trust, to help disadvantaged young people in Ireland.

Ranelagh Community Arts Festival

As Platinum sponsors of the locally organised events, we were delighted to be able to support our community drive to encourage the arts in the neighbourhood. From art competitions to family fun events, poetry readings to cultural walks, Beechwood helped contribute to this creative annual festival.

Autism Ireland & Spinal Injuries Ireland

There are people in our lives who have been impacted by both of these charities and the work they do. So we were delighted to be able to support these charities and support organisations through the purchase of the signed rugby jerseys that you see on our walls (and honestly, as big rugby fans we were kind of chuffed to get our hands on the jerseys anyway!).

Educational School Visits Within the Community

We all know that prevention is better than cure, and so once a year, a selection of our kiddie-friendly Beechwood team head out to spread the Happy Healthy teeth message to neighboring schools in Ranelagh and Rathmines.

One of our dentists and our hygienist Geraldine Mullaney spend an hour in each class of Sandford Parish National School; Scoil Bridhe, Lis na Nog, and Kildare Place School. It’s a fun and informative session where they chat informally to the kids, giving them demos on the proper way to brush your teeth & quiz them about good and bad food. For younger kids who may not have had their first visit to a dentist, we get them to play around with masks and gloves so they become familiar with them and so will be less fearful. Every kid gets a goodie bag filled with stickers, a factsheet, a colouring sheet and pencil. The initiative has proved very popular amongst the School Principals and we get asked back every year to follow up. We’re told that the kids find it fun and interesting too!

Morton’s Cup Soccer Tournament

Every year our local supermarket, Morton’s, kindly sponsors a trophy for the inter-school soccer tournament. For the past 3 years, Beechwood have sponsored the Runner-Up medals and helped out at the family-friendly tournament final, by flipping burgers, refereeing and generally running around doing what we’re told by the organiser, Dr. Michael O’Teirneigh. It’s a great annual event that we hugely enjoy being involved in. All monies raised from the BBQ get donated to charity.

Sandyford Community Parish Race Night

Like many other businesses in the village, we support this local school fundraiser. We sponsored a race and gave it the catchy name of ‘The Beechwood Dental Tooth Fairy Race”. Well, we are dentists not copywriters – it’s the best we could come up with! A great night was had by all.
